What your sleeping position says about your relationship

1 May 2015

When it comes to you and your partner, there are plenty of factors that define your relationship — the way you communicate, the way you handle conflict, the way you touch. And now, you can add the way you sleep to that list.

According to findings released by U.K. group The Sleep Matters Club, the co-sleeping position you choose “speaks volumes” about your partnership. But don’t freak out if you find yourself regularly resting back-to-back on opposite ends of the bed. As relationship psychologist Corinne Sweet reveals, the “liberty” position isn’t just the most popular way to sleep among the couples surveyed, it also suggests couples are connected and secure in themselves.

Curious where you and your bedmate fall on the chart? Check out the rest of the popular positions below. And remember: Don’t forget to share the blanket.

2. Cherish:This position shows a couple is relaxed and comfortable with each other — common in new relationships.
